2908 W. Hillsborough
I saw a listing for an El Flakos Tacos on Armenia, but I couldn’t find it, so we visited the one on Hillsborough. Their sign says they are a 24×7 place, so if there is a late night craving for tacos, this might be a good place.
The Food
We got an order of el pastor tacos and an asada order of tacos. And we got an order of Esquites.
We thought all was good. I didn’t think the esquites was as good as some of the others, just not as flavoraful. But on the other hand, having done this for awhile, the corn was solidly in the middle: Not great but not as bad as it could be. We thought the tacos at El Chapo were generally what you would want in a taco, mosit, flavorabul. So using that as a standard, we thought these were good tacos–they’d certainly be great for a late night snack–but did not quite as moist and flavorful as the ones at El Chapo.
The sauces
We thought the green sauce was quite good–it added both heat and flavor to the dishes. Not so much the red sauce, kind of thin and without much flavor.
The verdict
This food truck would be great for a late night goto. It was not spetacular, but among the food trucks, it was a cut above most.
